The denar is the official currency of Macedonia – North Macedonia. Denar banknotes come in denominations of 10, 50,100, 500,1000, 2000 and 5000. The coins come in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 50. Cash is mostly used in Macedonia – North Macedonia, though an increasing number of shops and restaurants are using POS.

Bringing money to Macedonia – North Macedonia
Upon entering Macedonia – North Macedonia you should declare the amount of money you are carrying if you intend to take all or part of it out of the country. Foreigners are allowed to bring only 2.000 EURO in cash. EURO, Switzerland Frank, British Pound and other foreign currencies are exchanged in all exchange office.
